This blog is a little something of everything because after all, everyone is a little something of everything. And me? I'm all that jazzz, 1993.Welcome Bloggers, have you fed Swimmy?
Today I had an interview to apply for the role of school captain. It was a very big deal indeed. I just couldn't help but be nervous no matter how hard I convinced myself that I wasn't. So the interview is over and it has become a case of "if only I had said that".
I wish someone had written me something inspiring to say like in the movies when they suddenly come up with a marvelous idea and everyone loves them. Maybe I could have said something like; I didn't iron my shirt for this occassion. I'm not saying I didn't take the time to present myself and I'm not saying that my shirt has not been ironed. What I'm saying is; I'm representing the school everyday. I didn't go to a lot of trouble to present myself because I wear my clothes with pride every day.
It isn't a lie. It is something 100% true about myself. If you aren't being yourself then what do you have left? You have to be yourself and you have to be proud of who you are. I wasn't trying to be something I'm not when I turned up to the interview and I'm certainly not claiming to be perfect. I was myself.
So my word of the day - what I really wanted to talk about: Perfect... and Perfection.
I asked dictionary.com what it thought about this word...
"excellent or complete beyond practical or theoretical improvement".

Perfection. I do not claim to own or possess it and I wonder exactly why there is such a word. Can anything really ever be perfect? Be 100%? Perhaps a mark on a test; but is what the test said perfect? More to my point, can anyone ever be perfect?
What do you see when you look at yourself in a mirror? Is it perfect? Does it matter?
I'm beginning to think it doesn't. In my next blog I'm tossing up whether to post a story about perfection, an issue about anxiety or do a blog about photography. We'll see.
Until then; keep smiling.
WOW this is very deep meaning full and rly gave me alot to think about jacqui! this is very interesting! im sure your interview was amazing as this blog and your positive thinking and spirits were set high!

This a great blog. I agree, you be who you want to be. As long as you are happy and content then thats all that matters. Being yourself is what takes real leadership. Being someone your not never turns out well.
ReplyDeleteWe all suffer with perfection. We tend to look at only the outside appearance. Thats why mirrors lie. Which ever post you write next it will be perfect. Keep it up.
